A South Florida restaurant has found a compassionate way to keep their doors open & staff employed, while assisting in community efforts to support Healthcare workers & First Responders.
On Saturday March 28th, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida based restaurant Adam & Joe’s Gourmet Eatery launched their, “Adopt-A-Healthcare Worker” program. This program allows customers & community members to sponsor a lunch or dinner for local hospital workers or First Responders.
“There are so few ways to help during this crisis. Providing a meal is a way to give back to our healthcare workers and provide them with a much-needed break”, says Adam Siegel, co-owner at Adam & Joe’s Gourmet Eatery. “Food is how so many people show their love, and we are trying to send the love and appreciation anywhere we can.”
The idea was inspired by a restaurant that posted about their success with a similar program. “We always look for inspiration around the country,” said Jessica Lehrer, co-owner and Head of Sales & Catering. “When I saw what this restaurant was doing, I knew it was a model we could quickly implement and would work well for us. We have great relationships with area hospitals, and are able to directly coordinate with the Administrators.”
The program is new but growing. So far, more than 100 healthcare workers have been provided meals at Coral Springs Medical Center, Imperial Point Medical Center & Broward Health North. The goal is to serve 100 healthcare workers every day. Each meal costs $10 and can be purchased at www.adamandjoes.com/adopt
